Getting into the Christmas spirit... the Disney way

All photos with Christmas lights were taken at the Spectacle of Dancing Lights, Disney Hollywood Studios.

The past days have been amazing. I've shared a lot of happy moments with my family, whom I consider close friends no matter the distance that usually separates us. I've had some time to myself (which is always good), tons of family time, done some shopping and visited two Disney parks already. It always brightens my mood when kids get all excited about Christmas, specially those high expectations they have and their lovely expressions while opening presents. I got to witness it all this year and that's why I know I'll never forget this Christmas, because even though some bad things have happened back at home, it's the best Christmas I've ever had.

Officially 19

You can't even begin to imagine my surprise when I found out my birthday cake was a giant cupcake! Everything was great! Thanks to everyone who came, we had a great time! Today I'm feeling grateful for my friends and family... and with that amazing feeling I board my plane to Orlando to start another journey, for two weeks anyway ;)

I loved my cake!

PS. Hope everyone has a great week! Christmas is so close!

In the kitchen: Birthday Cake Improvisation

Though my birthday is on Tuesday, my family wanted to celebrate yesterday (Sunday) because most of them have to work until late on my actual birthday. We hadn't ordered any cake and my favorite cupcake shop was closed so I had to do a little bit of an improvisation and this was the result...

The 'oh so tasteful' ingredients.

The marshmellows melted VERY slowly but filled the house with such a sweet smell.

TADA!
I had a blast making the rice krispies (they kind of reminded me of old times)! When my family arrived we had toast, sandwiches and hot chocolate for dinner, after we were done it was time to sing Happy Birthday. Never mind that I had made an entire tray of the treats, my family insisted on eating from the krispie-star and somehow we managed to split it for 8 people! It was such a fun way to celebrate; now let's see how the real cake I ordered for Tuesday turns out.

Itineraries & plans...

It's crazy how quickly time passes even though there are some days that can feel way to long! Tomorrow, I'm taking my last final exam of the semester, next Tuesday I'll be celebrating my Birthday with friends and family (already craving the chocolate cake!), and the day after that... I'm flying to Orlando, FL, for two weeks. Phew!

I've been trying to make a list of things I wanna to do in Orlando, but truth is, I've visited so many times I'll gladly go anywhere and do just about anything as long as I get to spend time with the family I have over there. For some reason, Orlando has always felt like a second home to me. Actually, I know for a fact that in the future I'm going to live there, close to my Disney peeps!

Is there any place that makes you feel so at ease that it feels like home, but is not actually it?

Letters to Santa

Last Christmas, while I was doing some last-minute holiday shopping, I stumbled across this amazing mailbox at a Macy's where you could write letters to Santa (in fact, it's happening this year too). So like the mature person I am, I got extremely exited and couldn't resist writting my own letter. Exactly what I wrote... I don't remember. But here's what I asked Santa this year! I guess this has become my own personal tradition :)

*For every letter received, Macy's will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

I apologize for the blurry photo -this was last year, taken from a disposable camera.

What are you waiting for! Go write your letter, please <3

My latest sources for happiness

Every so often I hear someone say "It's the little things that count...", well they are completely right. Here are some small details making me smile these days:

Strawberry frozen yogurt topped with chocolate shavings. (Can I have some more? Please:)

Being able to enjoy green areas like this one while waiting for someone at my university.

Whipped coffee with a friend on a sleepy & cold morning.
